As the years pass by us, we all tend to be a little more forgetful.  Our brains are just like any other organ; as it gets older it tends not to function as well as a younger counterpart.  But if you know how to improve brain power you can keep your mind sharp well into your golden years.

Many people use meditation and yoga to remove the clutter from their minds.  By sitting with your back straight and breathing deeply you can create a positive feeling.  Now if your attention goes to something else, simply focus on your breathing.  Visualize the word “breathe” when you exhale.

You can also try herbal supplements like Gingko Biloba and St. John’s Wort.  Gingko Biloba has been proven to promote circulatory health.  The brain needs oxygen to function properly, and your circulatory system is the delivery method.  St. John’s Wort increases levels of serotonin in the blood, which causes a mild sense of euphoria or happiness.  We all think better when we are in a good mood.

You may also want to know how to improve brain power using your senses.  Listening to classical music has had a profound effect on people who are about to take a test.  It’s unknown how this works, but a little Beethoven never hurt anyone.

If you have an appointment at a location you’ve never been to before, write down the date, time and location.  Say it aloud and then repeat the process.  Repetition is one way short term memories become long term memories, and you’ll be amazed how quickly you’ll recall ideas by simply repeating them.

Now you know how to improve brain power.  Maintain healthy eating habits and get plenty of exercise in conjunction with these ideas and in no time you’ll have expanded your memory.
