Most people, especially the senior citizens among us, want to know how to improve memory power. To do this, you have to think about your brain as you would a computer – both process information, need to be free of bugs and viruses and need a power source to work efficiently.
To supply power to your internal computer, you need to start with a healthy balanced diet. Healthy diets decrease stress and promote healthy immune, circulatory and nervous systems which are all necessary for peak performance. Your diet should include meats like beef liver and fish, grain products like bread and pasta, shellfish and eggs. This will ensure you get plenty of B Vitamins, antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids to stimulate blood flow to the brain. Think of oxygenated blood to your brain like electricity to your computer.
If you want to know how to improve memory power right now, there are several things you can do. First, take away some stress. Make any important phone calls, send any e-mails and finish up that project you’ve been worrying about. Now sit with your back perpendicular to the floor and breathe slow and deep. Is your mind wandering? Concentrate on breathing by visualizing the word “clear” as you breathe out.
You can also test your brain’s programming by doing some mental workouts. Read this article by using the mouse with your non-dominant hand. List one animal name for every letter in the alphabet. Or even do the morning crossword puzzle that comes in your newspaper. There are plenty of crossword puzzles and other logic puzzles available online for free as well.
