Use These Ideas to Aid in Memory Loss Prevention January 10, 2010
It is important to continually expose your mind to new things. It is important because it helps to prevent memory loss. Traveling and enjoying new adventures is a great way to expose your mind to new things. Traveling in particular will work to improve your overall thinking process.
This is going to give your mind the most benefit. When you travel to a new destination, everything is unfamiliar to you. These new things help with memory loss prevention. This means your brain has to think.
You will not be able to fall back on routine and past experiences as you encounter new things. A map can be a great way to help you find you way around the new area that you are visiting. Your brain will be stimulated as you focus on the map and finding the best route to your next destination. If your travels take you to countries where you will be driving on the opposite of the road, then your brain will really get a workout.
That’s why a lot of people feel so rejuvenated after spending a period of time abroad – they’ve experienced new things, and given their brains a thorough work out. That’s what I think anyway. Think of traveling as a process by which you can give your brain a puzzle to put together. Whether it’s looking for the lowest airfare on the ‘net, or trying to get theme park tickets for amusement parks in the area you’re traveling to, there’s all kinds of pieces that make up the travel puzzle.
You may also work on a vacation budget, and this process also works into the exercise. Crunching the numbers to determine if you can afford the vacation is, in and of itself, more exercise for your brain. And the more you travel, the more your brain will be exercised and the more you will enjoy the benefits of memory loss prevention. Some people suffer from anxiety about traveling, and it is important that you work through this if you are one of them.
The first step is to relax and allow yourself to take on a new perspective about going to new places. You can also try traveling with a friend or family member who can help you to relax and even enjoy being in a new, interesting place. If taking a vacation at this time is not an option, you can usually find someplace or event in your own area that you have not previously visited. Such an event or place would help you to stimulate your brain and still reap the benefits of memory loss prevention.
