Scientific Brain Training And What It Can Do For You March 28, 2010

Science has given us some incredible things and now it has revealed to us something amazing about our minds. You can train your brain to do all kinds of things from reducing the amount of pain that you may feel to increasing the amount of information that you remember. Many scientific brain training techniques may not be what you expect.

Researchers at Stanford University are doing experiments that reveal that the brain can learn to feel less pain. They studied chronic pain patients that were given a four step rule as to how to cope with their chronic pain. It included the following steps:

- Focusing attention on a painless body part
- Viewing pain as neutral instead of frightening
- Think of pain as low intensity
- Stay in control

By monitoring real tim brain activity, researchers found that patients could actually use this scientific brain training to teach their minds to experience less pain. Other studies have shown that the brain reacts to memory improvement training as well.

Studies haveĀ  revealed that people who exercise have the ability to recall things easier than those who do not. This is because physical activity increases blood flow to the brain and allows for healthier brain function. Studies have also linked mind engagement to memory improvement. Simply playing memory games or games that require recall can help to people remember other things better.

Many supplements can be used in scientific brain training. Mainly vitamin B and D. These vitamins will help ensure a healthy flow of oxygen-carrying red blood cells are delivered to the brain and that healthy blood cells are being created, respectively. You could also train your brain to have better recall by taking fish oil supplements which are naturally high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which contain DHA that has been shown to increase memory and slow the progression of age related brain function loss.
